for this section of freedom I did freedom of travel and the freedom of nature, this was the most important part as I developed it as my final piece, I like the idea of Romani gypsies and that they were free to roam the lands and trade/sell, i used a range of media in this section, I mostly used water colour, i used oil paint, marker pen, biro, white pencil and acrylic. i like using water colours because i love how easy it is to blend the colour with the water and get a smooth finish i also like how the run and bleed to create different effects. i love oil paints because it gives painting texture and makes it come alive, i think that the biro is very boring but i like the marker pen because it is simple and effective, its bold. i love white pencil on a black background i think it is really effective because it contrasts so it stands out and catches your eye immediately, i like how effective collage is, because you can layer things up and cut things out in interesting shapes.
this section is freedom of movement, some people don't have this freedom due to injury, old age, disability ect. i think that it is a beautiful thing and i chose movement of dace, for this i used oil paints, i painted in the style of leonid afremov. i love the textures in this painting really captured the movement in the brush strokes. also i chose movement of wind, for this i used water colour on tissue paper, i like the effect is has because the tissue goes all crinkly, and for my last one i used water colours for the back ground and i cut our some dolphin silhouettes out of black card, i thought this would be nice because its not all one media.
freedom of speech. i think that it is important that you can say what you think and express your feelings and passions but some people don't have this freedom, and I think its wrong. i did Bob Marley because i think he is inspirational in music but in his music he speaks words of wisdom, music has helped many get messages across to people because it is catchy and everyone loves music.
the media i have used for Bob is oil paints because i like using them and i painted him in the technique of the artist Leonid Afremov. i used acrylic for the first quote because it covers thick and the colour is vibrant so it stands out, for the second i used coloured pencils, i like the chalky effect it has on the paper i used. for the rest i used water colours, i like using them because they are easy to control and get good results.
freedom to see, most people are lucky to be able to see such wonderful things around but some might not be able to see they could be blind, or they could be locked away from the world. i like the fact that we all see things differently, one thing can be seen a million ways, that's why i love art because it gives us the freedom to show others what we see and how we see it. i like the idea of windows because on the other side of the window is freedom. for two of the eyes i used pencil because i can get a neater eye and use my pencil to shade, i didnt put alot of shading on the eyes, on on one i used coloured pencil to show what she see's i really like this effect because the dullness of the pencil makes the colours stand out, for the back ground i used watercolours and just gave a quick wash to wrinkle the paper and to make the eyes stand out more instead of blend in. i really like my 3rd eye because it is bright and colourful. for this i used watercolour paints. i like how the paint runs out of the eye in bursts of colour think water colours was great for this because they were able to run and control them, also they are easy to splatter on your page as you flick end of your paint brush.
animal freedom, because i think that all animals should be able to be wild and free to do what they do, and not killed for money or experimented on. for all of these i used watercolours i love the bright colours and how by adding other colours can create different textures.
religion, i think people should be free to choose which path they want to take if they want to take one at all, without being judged or discriminated against for it. for this i cut out 5 small circles out of card to draw religions on and then i cut out a bigger circle out of black card to stick them on, i think this looks effective because it is unusual,
freedom of the mind. I think that people should be allowed to think what they want and no one should take their thoughts away. the mind is a powerful thing and can accomplish anything. 'you cant arrest an idea' I like the idea of this and came up with my own design using oil paints. there is a girl standing in the wind with a bird carrying off handcuffs, I am proud of this design. for my first 3 squares I used collage, I like college because it is different and you can layer things up, for some I used pencil because it is simple and effective especially with shading. for the rest I used water colour because I like the bright colours and control texture.
I think that everyone should be free and have their own personality and be their own person. for the first two I used water colours I like the bright colours and the simplicity of the black. for the next two I used pencil, I like the white pencil bon black paper because it contrasts and stands out, I just like the idea of the other because it is simple and effective. I cut the dove out of white paper an stuck it on and then used a marker to write on it, I think this makes it stand out more than normal pen. I like the effect of the water colours on the tracing paper for world peace because it looks all watery. and I don't like the last one because it is boring.
