Experimental portrait project evaluation

Experimental portrait project evaluation.

For this project I decided to produce a self portrait because I thought it would be easier to do as I know more about myself than others. From the other project I used techniques such as sgraffito, coloured pencil on ink and mono printing. I attempted to use sgraffito on my eyebrows and on my eyes but it didn't work very well so instead I used it in the bottom corners of my page by putting down oil pastels first and then painting over the top with black acrylic mixed with washing up liquid, I scratched in some words to describe me and then a drawing on the other side, I don’t think this was very effective or interesting. I think my mood boards turned out okay, I like the variety of media I used but I feel they could have been more creative, as they are in other projects. I am not impressed with the turn out of my final piece because the proportions of my face are all wrong; I painted my mouth too small. The sgraffito went wrong on my eyes and eyebrows because I forgot to put oil pastels under first.  I like the fine liner and water effect and also staining paper with a teabag. I don’t like my writing at the top I think it’s too crowded. I like how I painted my lips and my hair but I don’t like that my lips are too small. So overall I don’t think it is an effective piece of work. There is room for a lot of improvement. I thought I was managing my time well, by getting everything in on time but still rushing in the end to finish. I feel that I tried my best on everything through the whole project, but I don’t think they are the best mood boards or final piece I have produced. I enjoyed some parts of the project like critical study and copying their paintings. But I didn't enjoy drawing myself and trying to use different Medias to put it together. I don’t think that portraiture is for me.
